Term 1 - Week 8

 Kia Ora Kākano whānau

Wow, Week 8 already! The term seems like it’s flying by.

We would like to thank parents for their continued support of the school’s Covid protocols. It looks like a wet week so we would again like to remind you that on a wet day, we ask all parents to stay on the outside of the Kākano gates as we have lots of children to get to set areas. Once again, if your child tests positive it is very important to let either Dave, Anne, your child's teacher or the school office know.  Thanks for all your help with this. Also a  big thumbs up to those children and whanau who are working hard on the Home Learning activities.

Many of you will notice some differences to the reading coming home and should receive an information sheet/email about the changes. Please check their book bags and home books for any activities we have sent home.  It is an exciting time for the Kakano teachers as we move into the next phase of our structured literacy programme.

Jumpers

Mr Macmillan has ordered air purifiers for all the classrooms and we are patiently waiting for the delivery of these. Until they arrive we need to keep the doors and windows open in the classroom to allow sufficient airflow to keep the class as ventilated as possible. As you may have noticed, it is getting much colder in the mornings. Please, please, please send your children to school with their winter school jumpers on to keep them warm. If you do not yet have a school jumper, the uniform shop is open Mon & Fri 8:30-9:00 and Wed 2:30-3:00 or you can order through the school app and it will be delivered to our class.

Hats

A gentle reminder that hats are COMPULSORY every day that we are at school in term one and term four. Some children are "forgetting" their hats quite often at the moment. Please make sure that their hat is in their school bag AND that they know where it is in their bag. No hat = No play.

Swimming

No swimming this week.

Gym

Mondays at lunchtime if your child wishes to attend. Girls bring shorts and a t-shirt. Boys can come in their uniform - you can bring shorts and t-shirts if you wish.

Roller Skating

Fridays at lunchtime if your child wishes to attend. Bring your own skates and helmets.
